This refers to the process of gathering information from another person. When a student does research for a story an interview is most essential. To find answers that go deep the reporter must ask questions that are open ended. Allow the interviewee the opportunity to speak.
We want answers that are NARROW AND DEEP not wide and shallow.

Close Ended
Questions that can be answered in a few words or less! You should never use these questions unless you need to! |
Open Ended
Questions that need an explanation for the answer. This is the best way to get information for your article! |
